Radio Silence

Hi all. Sorry that it has been quiet over here and that neither Coach Bailey, nor I have been out to run with you all. I am planning to coming out today, Thursday. I hope that running has been going well, and that you are keeping at it.

The Snowflake mile was a great success. Good job Brittney. For those of you who don't know, she sat, stood and shivered the day, handing out packets and registering late entries at Veteran's Park before the race started. Thanks to all who ran as well. It was a great year to participate as there was no snow and the temperature hovered just under freezing.

Another thing that has been keeping Coach Bailey and me busy is the Linkville Loper's Running Club. Because of them, we are able to put on races such as the Snowflake mile, the Turkey Trot, and even the Crater Lake Rim Runs. The club almost disbanded this year, after thirty some odd years of operation. We have been working toward making it a viable and vital club again, and lending a hand to help the people who have been hosting these runs for years and years. They needed some help, and hopefully, we can provide that. I urge you all to become members of the Loper's. The cost for students is only $5 per year. That money goes toward insurance for races mostly. Without the insurance, no races. Also, if you don't feel like racing, volunteer. Trust me, you feel great after helping out.

And speaking of races, the Reindeer Romp will be December 20th at 10 AM at Moore Park. The start will be staggered based on what times people think that they might run. So, in theory, everyone should be finishing together. It will be a 5k.

I'm very interested in supporting the club. Any idea how to sign up?

Yes! You can email the president, Homer Garich: garich at charter.net or give him a call at 882-1453.

Your best bet is to meet up with him at the Reindeer Romp this weekend at Moore Park. Saturday, 10 AM. He will have Lopers Membership forms and an email sign up.

Also, you can check out the newly formed blog here: http://linkvillelopers.blogspot.com/
